Viewed from Sealy Tarns, zoomed in far across the valley is Aoraki/. Mt Cook’s mid-summer snow capped peak makes a brief appearance from its clouded repose, a saw toothed ridge wrapping down to the right like the spine of a fallen giant. A greener foothill in the foreground shadowed by the clouds forms the opposite side of the valley whose gem is an otherworldly greenish blue lake, filled with glacial melt and a small iceberg to boot. The lake spilling slowly through a tortuous stream, toward lake Punakaki where it will transform into a brilliant cerulean blue.
