How I fought my smartphone addiction

@ploum 😉 vive les lettres timbrées et les cassettes envoyées : 3 semaine min aller/retour! Et nous avons survécu à celaaaa😜
@ploum
Scrolling addict here. For me it is not the phone that is addictive: I hate notifications, and I even hate more being called (and calling myself). I do this with my mom, and I keep the possibility for others to call me because of emergencies (being a dad, all that).
But I am very addicted to scrolling. And listening to stuff, music, talking shows and podcasts, etc, when I don't have to interact with people IRL. It is a real problem. I Found that I can spend almost an entire day wearing headphones…
@ploum one of the fun side effects of running a de-Googled android phone is that most apps push notifications don't work. Made me realise how much better even getting fewer is.
Still 100% addict tho ;D
@ploum Unfortunately, smartphones, like many other technologies are pushed on us in a way that prays on our natural anxieties as humans.
This is similar to Ring door cameras being pushed (at least the US). What if a package is delivered while you aren't home and someone steals it? What if your house is robbed? But what people don't realize is that there is no evidence that crime is actually reduced. It's difficult for most people to get past the feat and anxiety to even think about that part.
